My 2nd enervation pencil is paired, charged and connected but I can’t get it to write anything in Notes. Can someone help me out? Thanks.

Go to Settings > Apple Pencil
Is it by any chance Off there. If it is, choose one of the options above Off that you prefer to use. I like Switch Between Current Tool and Eraser.
Do you have the new iPad Pro without a home button or do you have iPad Pro with a home button? If you have the latter, you need the original Apple Pencil as the 2nd generation pencil will not write on the previous iPad Pro. If you have the newest iPad Pro 11 or 12.9 2018 model and you still can't get your pencil to work, contact Apple Directly. They are new and you have free tech support to help you resolve this.

FYI - I took my iPad and Apple Pencil to the Apple Store today and they just replaced it with another pencil. We tested it in the store and everything is working fine. Thanks for helping.
