Jul 10, 2010 6:07 PM in response to Arnold Millerby Apple Bummed,I have the same problem and it happened last night.
Repeated pop-ups to get "verification required" on my itunes account.
I went through numerous times without success.
Can't get anyone from Apple to help and I conveniently exceeded my product support period.
Not very impressed at the moment.
Ideas welcome. -
Jul 10, 2010 8:34 PM in response to Arnold Millerby capaho,You should send a message to iTunes store support and ask them to look into the problem. There was a security breach in the iTunes store recently that affected some member accounts. -

as previously stated, it isn't an appletv issue, it's an itunes store account issue.
check your account on a pc/laptop and ensure that it is not locked ore requiring re-verifying.
once that is done, appletv should be able to access it. -

Apple TVWelcome to the Discussion Forums.
There may be a communication issue between the tv and the host computer, try restarting the tv, the router and the computer.
Check that the account you are using on the tv is the same account you use on your computer.
Before any widespread panic sets in, any security breach which has been raised here, is the result of individual accounts being compromised likely through phishing or compromised computers, it isn't because of anything that happened at the itunes store. The only way your account might become compromised is if you let it. -
Jul 11, 2010 7:06 AM in response to Winston Churchillby Arnold Miller,Hi Winston,
The first thing I did was restart the computer and the Apple TV. Per your suggestion I restarted, the computer, router and apple tv, and still no luck. I sent an email to iTunes support, and will wait a few days for a reply.
Any other suggestions?
Best,

Jul 11, 2010 9:19 AM in response to Arnold Millerby Chenks,so what happens when you access your itunes store account in itunes on your computer? does that also advise you that verification is required? -
Jul 11, 2010 11:23 AM in response to Chenksby smkarluk,I'm having the same problem. No verification required pop-up when I access my account via my computer. It shows all my current information, including the correct address, cc, and phone numbers... -
Jul 11, 2010 11:34 AM in response to Chenksby Arnold Miller,No.
Everything is fine.
I even tried changing the CC information and updating it to see if that would help.
Then I restarted everything...and still get the VERIFICATION REQUIRED message.
I just bought two songs for a $1.29 to see if I would get the message on my computer. Works fine on two other computers.
Still waiting on reply from iTunes support.
Best,

Jul 11, 2010 2:15 PM in response to Chenksby Arnold Miller,My apple tv is out of warranty...so I have to pay $49 for a one time diagnosis.
Seems a bit steep to me. -
Jul 11, 2010 6:32 PM in response to Arnold Millerby andymag,I have this problem as well. My iTunes account works fine on my computer, my iPhones etc. -
Jul 11, 2010 8:47 PM in response to Arnold Millerby Apple Bummed,Tried the suggestions here with no avail.
I am not going to pay a one-time $49 fee for a $200 product.
Apple should stand behind their products AND services especially when they bundle them and make them dedicated to each other.
I don't have any choice but to use iTunes with AppleTV.
At this point I have a very large paperweight.
Does anyone from Apple read these forums?
This is very frustrating as there's a glitch somewhere in the Apple ether.
SOMEONE FROM APPLE ANSWER THE SUPPORT LINE OR GET A TECH THAT HAS AN ANSWER TO HELP US PLEASE!! -
Jul 11, 2010 11:20 PM in response to Arnold Millerby pudjam666,I had this same problem. Here's how I fixed it:
1) Go to iTunes
2) Go to your account settings (on my version of iTunes, I click my email address in the upper-right)
3) Click the "Edit Payment Information" button
4) Make sure everything is filled out correctly and click "Done"
Now everything should work correctly. Hope that helps! -
