Oct 9, 2010 11:53 AM in response to Leann1115by Leann1115,Appears to be working now. It is amazing that apple can create this problem and then not tell anyone about it. Thanks again for the help! -
Oct 9, 2010 6:07 PM in response to Arnold Millerby htchbckdrv,Hmm...
So a few weeks ago my Apple TV stopped letting me make purchases. I assumed that it was because the ATV couldn't find my computer (I'm at a school and occasionally have issues with this).
Anyway, I tried to buy a song yesterday on my iPad and i had the same issue. So i re-entered all information on my iPad and it was set to go. However, then I had the same issue on my Computer....interesting.....but ok, updated the account via computer too. However, I can not for the life of me get my ATV to accept my user name and password. I gave up, so I reset the ATV to factory settings and re-registered. It seemed to work because it even said it was connecting to my iTunes account (YAY!!).
But no...
Upon some deeper digging, it looks like the ATV uses port 80 or 443 to authenticate the iTunes un and pword. It looks like my school network has recently decided to block these, so I think I am truly SOL on this one .
Anyone have other idea's? Maybe the billing info takes a day to allow me to sign on to ATV? Im guessing not....
Ugh. Time for a Mac Mini? -

Oct 23, 2010 2:43 PM in response to spooningmoonby Alex Postnikov,Had "Verification Required" pop up all of a sudden. Now confirming that editing Payment Information through iTunes account page fixes the problem. -
Oct 28, 2010 1:32 PM in response to Arnold Millerby Andesh,I imagine Arnold has figured it out by now (or thrown out his AppleTV:), but for others following, if you get a "verification required" when trying to purchase on AppleTV, then go to your iTunes account on your computer. I signed out and when signing in had to verify my payment details. Having done so I was immediately able to complete my purchase and download on AppleTV. -
Oct 30, 2010 6:37 PM in response to pudjam666by Mr_Mark,Thank you! This was exactly what I had to do, and now my Apple TV is downloading a movie I've rented. The Payment Information information was lacking the security code from my credit card. Once I entered it and clicked "Done" I was able to rent from the iTunes store on my Apple TV. -
Oct 31, 2010 9:02 PM in response to Arnold Millerby unhappyappletv,SOLVED:
instead of buying something on your itunes to get the verification, i tried to logout of my itunes, wait a bit, and then just log back in.
then go to view account, edit payment info, then update, then click done.
it worked and didn't have to purchase anything and appletv finally stopped popping up the annoying verification required.
sheesh. hate apple -
Nov 1, 2010 5:26 PM in response to Arnold Millerby djt9000,Having had the same issue happen to me, I was able to determine that I needed to sign into my iTunes account and re-enter the 3 digit security code field in the billing info portion.
Issue resolved.

Nov 6, 2010 7:10 PM in response to Arnold Millerby pumpkin23,You just need to go back to your computer open itunes> click itunes store > log in to your account check your payment method sometimes you recently change your credit card or you had issues/ problems with your bank account it makes you verify the account in itunes for security purposes. -
Nov 9, 2010 7:17 PM in response to pudjam666by Drew Mack,Big thumbs up to pudjam666, your solution worked like a charm for me. Thanks! -
Nov 16, 2010 2:24 PM in response to Drew Mackby caipi,I read all your recommendations, because we installed our Apple TV yesterday, but we are not able to buy movies or music with the Apple TV because of the "Verification Required" message.
I tried everything you recommended, but it's still not working. I refreshed my payment information, put in the 3 digit code etc. but I still get the same message.
I have no problem buying movies with my iMac or my iPhone, it's only a problem with the Apple TV.
Any other ideas?? -

Nov 20, 2010 1:26 PM in response to pudjam666by RayJay717,I did what pudjam666 said, checked card number & noticed security code was missing, put hat in, works like a champ. Thanks pudjam666 -
Nov 20, 2010 5:17 PM in response to pudjam666by wws_in_pdx,Yes, that does work. Apple has added rigor to their password access for iTunes and you may need to update your Credit Card info. That completed via iTunes on the computer....entered new credentials on my AppleTV and all worked fine.
