Ok, I figured it out. At the bottom of the calendar there are 3 choices. “Today” “Calendars” and ? I tapped calendars and one of the choices is to “enter birthdays”. Turned that choice to the off position and boom, the birthdate entry is gone. Success! Thanks for your concern. Always more to learn.

I don’t think Contacts is an App. It can be moved from one screen to another but not deleted. I think it is part of the fiber of an iPad. Otherwise how could you email, text or otherwise “contact” anyone? It is odd that an entry can not be deleted from the calendar. I’m not entirely sure how it got there except I see in the contact info I did enter a b’day. It may be just a default. I’ll go into contacts and delete the birthdate and see it that takes care of it. Thx.
Thanks. Tried that several times. It does not open as a calendar “event”. It opens as a contact w/no delete entry as an option. Hmmm....
You may have to look in the contact app for it and see if you can delete that “contact”. Not sure what is going on.
Glad you got it fixed.
Tap on the event, then tap delete event at the bottom.
