Right Airpod not working with auto ear detection or double-tap

My right airpod won't do automatic ear detection or double-tap for Siri by itself. It's fully charged. I can hear out of it however, once I put the left airpod in my ear. The left one is working properly.

Greetings, michelleNKY.

I see that you're having an issue with one side of your AirPods. It seems the right AirPod doesn't detect when it's in your ear and doesn't respond to a double-tap. I'm happy to help.

Try verifying your settings for the behavior of your AirPods. Turn Automatic Ear detection off and back on again. You can also verify if Siri is set as default for your right AirPod. The following article will help:

Learn more about your AirPods with charging case

If the issue is still there after reviewing those steps, try the steps from Get help with your AirPod:

  • Go to Settings > Bluetooth and tap the icon next to your AirPods.1 Then tap Forget This Device.
  • Put your AirPods in the case and close the lid. Wait 15 seconds, then open the lid.
  • Press and hold the setup button on the back of the case until you see the status light flash amber a few times, then flash white.
  • Place your AirPods close to your device. Follow the steps on your iOS device's screen.

If after pairing them you experience the same behavior with your AirPods, contact Apple Support.

Take care!
