Unable to install Mojave on an external disk

I'm trying to install Mojave on an external following the instructions provided by Apple (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201372) but when executing the command:

~$ sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ Mojave.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/EXTERN

I get the following error:

sudo: /Applications/Install macOS Mojave.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia: command not found

When looking into the Applications folder I cannot find any Mojave.app.

What am I doing wrong and how should this work?

Okay so did you download the full installer from the App Store?

‎macOS Mojave on the Mac App Store

If so, it is called "Install macOS Mojave" and it would be in the Applications folder and be 6.1GB in size.

I want to install a bootable macOS Mojave Version on an external drive to be able to boot from that drive if necessary.

The link you posted is incorrect. Plus you seem to be trying to create a bootable installer rather than installing Mojave on an external drive. What are you trying to do exactly?
