HI,

When one configures their Mac for the first time, the iSight camera takes a pic of you to serve as your avatar or icon when you log in to your Mac.

Question: where on the Mac can I find that picture?

Thanks for any help,
Vence

I have found the solution!!

Go into preferences > User accounts > click on the user picture > edit picture > Edit menu > copy (command + C) > Open Preview app > File > New from clipboard > File > Save

If the last step "from clipboard" doesn't work open up any recent image in Preview and paste the image there.

For me it only works in the Preview app

Also this thread is getting old can you please pick a best answer

If you have navigated correctly it should be there so long as you still have yourself in your Address Book and you have a “Me” badge in the lower right corner of the image. This image changes as your profile or “Login image” changes. This image is also used in Mail and iChat, found at the bottom of the dock so long that you have not rearranged it. Anyway this is my quick and simple solution to your problem (It is also all I can suggest to you) Go to Preferences, Users and then change your login picture. When the drop down dialog box comes down, stretch it as far as you can to fill the screen. Now take a screen shot by pushing shift + command + 4. Drag the crosshair over the selection and grab the screen it should appear on your desktop. Another way would be to browse your folders ie Library and User folders for the photos which will be definitely stored in there some where. Also, if the photo you took when you set it up and the photo you have now are different go to the recent user pictures in the drop down box from when I told you to take a screenshot it should be there.

Hi MacNewBie,

I navigated just as you suggested ( my name and all) and there are no pics there. I'm not sure it if matters that this MacBook is a late '07 and started life with Leopard 10.5, and perhaps files and folders aren't arranged the same anymore.
Thanks for your input though. I'll continue to look around in that general user account area and see what I can find.
