Locked MacBook Pro 15

Hi all, my wife decided she would like to use my work laptop and entered multiple incorrect passwords. I’m now stuck with a laptop that I can’t do anything with, and all my work and files inaccessible. I’ve tried rebooting in recovery mode and resetting the password through utilities, but still get the screen below when I try to log back in.

Does anyone know how I can log back in?

Hello calebmartin,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities! I understand from the information you provided that you have a prohibitory symbol on the display when booting up your Mac; I'd like to help.

About the screens your Mac displays as it starts up

Prohibitory symbol
A circle with a line or slash through it means that the selected startup disk contains a Mac operating system, but it's not a macOS that your Mac can use. You should reinstall macOS on that disk.

The following support article provides some troubleshooting steps to try for this behavior:

How to reinstall macOS from macOS Recovery

This article gives you three options for reinstalling. I would recommend that you use Command-R.

Best Regards.
