Number changed to Primary

Why am I now getting the message "Number changed to Primary" when texting with my daughter. She is using her iPhone 8 and I have the XsMax. In another thread I read that it would clear up with update 12.1 but we are beyond that and I just started to receive this message. Help!

Use Primary i have two iphones using the same appleid. Sometimes when i send a message it will prompt if i want to "use primary number". what does that mean? Which phone number is the message going to appear to come from to Android users?

This is something linked to the dual SIM function and which SIM serves which functions in your XS Max. Please see Using Dual SIM with an eSIM - Apple Support for initial guidance and good ideas.
