Is giving neagent access to my admin password secure?

This may be a silly question but I need to understand the answer. My VPN Application asks through neagent for my Macbook Pro Administrator password, presumably so it can store/access information in my keychain.

While I know that neagent is considered an Apple "security feature", I'm wondering if this is basically giving the VPN company or its employees my Administrator password. If so, isn't that in itself a security issue? Stated differently, even though the company has a very good reputation, does "trusting" the company with respect to the app allow them to access anything except their application?

Thank you.

While I am retired and use a VPN infrequently, there are times when I travel and stay in a hotel and occasionally need to browse the internet. However, such wifi networks are insecure in that often everyone has the password. I'd like to avoid becoming a victim of malware, keylogging, man-in-the-middle attacks, or other such hacking attempts. VPN should lessen that possibility. So that's why I use it. Thanks.
