2018 iMac configuration

Hello everybody. I have a few questions regarding the 2018 version of iMac available online:

I'm considering upgrading from my Macbook pro mainly because my mashine is from late 2013 and it s not upgradable. I'm thinking of building a machine that is upgradable. So my first question is:

  1. Is the current version upgradable mainly the GPU.
  2. Which parts are also upgradable besides GPU
  3. Can a eGPU be used on this machine
  4. Is FCPX supporting eGPU's
  5. Can somebody list the minimum specs needed for a 4k workflow in FCPX

Thank you very much!

Any 27" iMac can be upgraded as far as RAM. the 21.5" Macs cannot. I would go with an i7. Basically you want the highest specs allowed by your budget. If it was my iMac, I would order it with 8GB RAM and upgrade it myself to 32GB from OWC or Crucial. I'm only including Crucial because it seems to get good reviews here. I get all my RAM from OWC.

As a last thing this basically means that the cheapest config :

27 inch intel quad core i5 3,40ghz, with AMD radeon pro 570 is suitable for 4k editing as it is. Sorry for being so insistent

Don't want to end up in the same situation after few years when the new camera that shoots 4k at 120 fps 12bit RAW's at 400mbs and I cannot upgrade the ram or use a eGPU. I'll still have to do more research on the eGPU and FCPX compatibility.
