shift key- please help.

hey there. so i have a macbook pro (late 2016 i think?) and my sister accidentally spilled a TINY bit of water on the shift key. everything else works perfectly, the shift key is just always on. it’s not stuck or anything like the key itself works fine, but every time i type a letter it is in caps and every time i type a number i get symbol instead, which is so annoying. i probably can’t fix it, so i was wondering is there any way or any program i can use to disable the key entirely so that all my other keys work normally? if you’re just gonna say it’s trashed and i can’t fix it then please don’t bother, ive heard it way too much.

Macbook (2016 or later)

It will be less painfull than when you find out what it will cost to get your notebook repaired. }:-)

I don't know if you could go one for long with the shift key disabled. What happens when you need @ in an e-mail address? I am thinking I probably only use the shift a hundred times per day. I know things like sentence structure is a vanishing art with the younger generation but still... :-D

I know you can re-map keys to certain things but the shift key is such a basic modifier feature I suspect its functionality is wired in, not programmable. I notice when I invoke Keyboard Viewer that no options are given for certain keys since they are the ones that modify the standard keys.
