!!!Friend is having trouble recovering their Apple ID (HELP)

We recently took the phone to the GeniusBar for replacement of the phone because the battery had been broken. Everything was backed onto their iCloud and their phone was the only device they had that was signed in with their Apple ID. The trusted number their Apple ID was associated with was an old phone number so when they were given their newly replaced phone, they were unable to verify logging into the account so they marked it for recovery using another trusted phone number we provided. It took about a week for them to find out they typed in the new trusted number wrong upon putting the Apple account for recovery. The phone said that it will send instructions to the new trusted number which they wrote incorrectly.


Is there a way to restart the recovery process?? They don’t wish to make a new apple account as there are a lot of important things locked in her iCloud account. Please help 🙏🙏
