I have a side gig that will send me notifications through their app that can happen at any time. If I’m listening to podcasts, etc, they don’t sound regardless of how they are set up in settings causing me to miss hours and work. Is there anything I can do to force notifications to interrupt whatever else I’m doing on my phone?

If the Mute switch is not set to mute notifications will briefly reduce the volume of what you are listening to and play whatever notification sound you have set. This works well for me.
What are your settings? Do you have Do Not Disturb enabled or scheduled?
That’s how I assumed it would work here, as that’s how incoming phone calls work, but it isn’t.
That's how it works with all of the notifications I receive. I can't explain why it isn't working for you, unless it's something special with that app.
DND is not on or scheduled. Just looked and I missed out on 3 hours of work tonight because didn’t hear any notification until it was too late. I am using Bluetooth ear buds to listen to podcasts, if that makes a difference. I’ve already followed the iPhone instructions for enabling notifications. I do hear notifications when I have the app open when I’m using it. (It’s the Instacart app).
