iMac mid 2010 OS High Sierra + Screen Display issues +

Above iMac is on a semi regular basis freezing up. Screen = pixels blinking . I unplug ( various durations ) safe mode " boot " then get a vertical line ( alternating - semi transparent + other stripe - is green . , sometimes purple (?) both are vertical and one inch wide - I did multiple command key combos , changed to Malwarebytes . This happens ( No Rhyme or reason )

I did contact Apple via Phone - suggestion " incompatible software , I ran " Omni Disk Sweeper on the 500 GB HD it did identify some incompatible software I did delete and trash those items . Note I did post this Question prior ( when iMac Line 2012 and Later did not appear )

i have " therories " due to my iMac being unable to update to OS Mojave ( i.e. Current Mac Apps ( both Apple and Third Party ) were updated for OS Mojave ( ?? Code ) Sure I am a novice but Please Anyone else experiencing this or ? Sure a computer lasting 8+ years cool

Darn close to deaf here, thankfully I can still hear every note played by Pink Floyd as it's all stored internally! :)

Went to macjams.com & searched dwwave under music, found many but no idea how to play them or what... & my data limit is about eaten up for the next 3 weeks.

Smalldog is good too.

What is the highest temp you're seeing?

I'd ramp the fans to max for a bit... here the ODD fan seems to cool the GPU the most.

Ouch, I'm too empathetic when pain is mentioned... my knees & back hurt now

Thoughts -On 133.39 GB Available of 250.69 GB ? and rationale for return - Maybe did not think HD size through , Ram -Mac mini is fast + DDR4 vs DDR3 (on iMac) + SSD too

Max out the RAM, Apple is freaky tight with there RAM & now it's soldered in & can't be changed after market, Next OS is 64 bit only & what nobody tells you is 64 bit Apps take up more RAM & more HDD/SSD space, the SSD can be upgraded, but may be cheaper to start with Max.

Thanks ,

I have had the Mac Fans ( app ) running - at default settings , changed Celsius to Fahrenheit

never figured out the metric system .... I did restart ( to ? Obtain logs of data ) Used iTunes

playlist for several hours . Not (100% clear on excessive temperatures ( will watch the GPU temps . ?? I ( thought compressors ( did air out for cleaning - guess why I thought of a hair dryer ( We have a Samsung portable vacuum with a extended air hose Will try that .

reviewed MacBook Airs , Mac Mini and 2017 iMacs on Apple.com ( my iMac value = eligible for recycling ha ) oh well ( did get a 4th generation iPod touch with iMac in 2010 ( paid 4 the iPod Touch then got reimbursed (?) It used to work , battery no longer held a charge oh well .

Maybe ,,, The Mac Mini ( appears cooling - airflow is addressed , ? Size HD ( I have a 500 GB 7200 rpm 12GB Apple Ram ( I added 4x 2 from Smalldog.com Vermont shop (?s > dogs )

bought 5 Apple Jam Packs for $20.00 per I have all but World Music ( But Mainstage 3 came with all of the AU instruments +> for $29.99.

Unsure what type of music you R in to but on macjams.com or iOS app I have put up music there under dwwave a few are collaborations with Ian in the U.K. I incurred a rather severe right knee injury in 2008 hyperextended my knee , multiple surgeries ( bilateral microfracture first RUN if a Dr. Suggests it . And numerous scopes , injections , and a knee replacement in late May 2017 and two manipulations of same knee ( under anesthesia ) PT out wazoo - pain is way beyond what it should be ( + 3 spinal surgeries prior to 2008 ) enough whining ...

sitting at a computer is hard . Keyboards and guitar playing became hard standing versus sitting But Never Ever Give Up !

Appreciate the insights and tips you share . I am using my iPad to post and to keep track I email myself .

Thanks Again

peace

Temps "were " under 105 but today ( after selectively downloading Mac OS Security Update + Safari ( Only ) Restart required - > getting to log in I could Hear the "fan (s?) and Felt Warm Air through the horizontal port ( will check logs of app ) ???? How do U upload data to " communities "

GPU - temps = 101-104

CPU Change from 110-123

I am running a iTunes Playlist with app in view ( log for app " seems to list rpm of fan ( saw ? 7200rpm ( I am not clear on what means what ) No more " air blowing out top horizontal rear port and fan(s) quiet .

?? Pink Floyd - tragic what happened to Syd Barret (? Drugs versus mental health or both ?

Drummer of band is touring doing pre - Dark Side of The Moon music Umma and See Emily Play ( I have a 3 disc CD when Syd was in the band . David Gilmour and feud with ? Bass player - guitarist is not worth it . Keyboard Player Nick ? Wright was incredible .

bummer macjams limits U . I have a log in ( for iOS and OS X but it has been awhile since I put up anything ( folks have downloaded songs (?) I consider myself a amateur ( if that ) if it's no longer fun then ... I know people who were in bands and one ( one ) who made it big no name dropping . Cool dude . And band and film scorer too $ thrtr + tours . $ from CD . Vinyl or 16 bit MP3 ( man they sound bad ) 8 bit are pinball machines ha

Exploring Mac Mini ? Ram needed ( I have 12GB in iMac ( back when not soldered in ) HD ? I ? Do not need 500GB perhaps half , The posts (?) re Mohave seem scary , display issues +>

We had two emacs many moons ago , > AppleCare expired Kernal Panic ( Was Logic Board Failute and Apple covered it ! We still have a iMac that runs ( partioned 50% OS 9 / 50% OSX 10.3.9 is white odd shape with dual circular speakers ( GarageBand works on it - that version ) prior to " class compliant " I had to replace a Tascam U-122 Audio USB interface and a M- Audio Radium 49 and a Blackbox( multi sound + audio interface due to drivers . I have a M- Audio Keystation 88es ( 1st generation ) that" was class compliant , but not compliant with Mohaje . I am not thrilled with M-Audio . But what can you do . No I am not Rich nor ?

will deal with it . Keyboards to utilize AU audio units i.e. Drums , Bass as well as A-Z are fun

i still have a 1980 Casio MT40 - Its basic but desirable to " circuit benders ( I get that but I will not sell it ( I learned on a 1923 Waltham Upright Piano ( paid $50. Dollars delivered , They did not realize I lived on the second floor ? When I moved > getting married We dismantled it saved the wood for a friends Dad , cut the harp in half and threw it in a field rest- strings , keys + in the dumpster . Writing too much

Current GPU = 109 +- / CPU = Core 1 and 2 have reached 130 (F) CPU Heatsink 112 (F)

Ramp may have been a poor term for me to use, I just meant increasing the RPM.

If you're not currently having video issues it's doubtful the MFC logs would tell us anything.

Sadly the other bands you mention fall on deaf ears. :(

I feel lucky to have seen Pink Floyd live once, & Roger Waters live once... thought he was going to disintegrate the 10' square concrete beam behind me that was supporting the roof!

I once had plans of making a video of Pink Floyd Albums with my interpretation... it was to be about 24 to 32 hors long... never really got off the ground.
