Bad hard drive
My 2011 MacBook Pro has a bad hard drive. When I boot it the disk isn’t recognized. When I plug it into another Mac via usb , it still isn’t recognized. Is my drive fried?

Assuming you use Time Machine for backing up: Restore your Mac from a backup - Apple Support
If you use some other backup scheme check with the developer of it for instructions regarding restoring from their backup.
