Mac book pro not able to detect Internal hard drive

I am using mid 2016 15 inch macbook pro. last week I had an issue with mac not turning on and flashes a Folder with question mark symbol on it. After running some diagnosis, mac is not able to detect internal Hard drive. when checked with apple support in store, gentlemen who assisted me was not able to figure out what caused this issue and quoted me a price of $795 to replace MLB and SSD, as i do not have apple care. Another downside to this is I would lose all my data. I am really looking forward to a solution to this with out me replacing SSD and MLB. Was any one able to resolve it?

Restore your data from a backup. You should always have frequent verified working backups of your data since an SSD can fail at any time without any warning signs. Plus it is impossible to recover accidentally deleted data from an SSD.

You can have Apple attempt to recover data from the laptop using a special tool which connects to the Logic Board to directly access the SSD unless of course the SSD itself has completely failed. If the SSD has completely failed, then you can request Apple to send the Logic Board to a professional data recovery service on your behalf to attempt to data recovery from the bad SSD (assuming you have Apple or an AASP repair the laptop).

If you don't want Apple to repair the laptop, then you can contact a professional data recovery service yourself. Both Drive Savers and Ontrack provide free estimates and both are recommended by Apple.
