I tried to restore my iPhone via iTunes, but it takes forever to download the firmware. I figure I can hold shift and click the [Restore iPhone...] button to choose the ipsw file to restore the iPhone, but I can't find where to download official ios firmware. Please help.

Plug the phone into your computer. In the summary page for the phone, check for updates. You will have the option to download and install or download only. If you choose download only, you can go do other things while it downloads it. your computer will need an active Internet connection to actually install the update to your phone.
Apple does not offer a way to download iOS firmware outside of iTunes.
iTunes can download the iOS update, but not apply it directly. The next time you connect the iPhone to it, it can use the downloaded file for installation.

Obtaining ipsw files outside of iTunes is not supported by Apple, and you would be on your own if you tried that.
