Completed Reminders Don't Delete

I have a couple thousand completed reminders across my lists because apparently the app doesn't have a setting to just delete completed apps after a certain amount of time. And when I try to get rid of them by clicking Clear Completed Reminders on iCloud.com from my PC, it doesn't update on my phone. But iCloud will keep reverting back to having the completed reminders. It seems to work for a list that only had 9 completed reminders, but it fails with the larger ones.

Hi alex_h1,

I read the articles you linked, and I'm doing everything by the book.

When I delete an individual item from my phone, it stays deleted and updates on the iCloud website. But I don't want to do this individually for thousands of reminders, hence my wish to use the website delete all completed functionality.

I did try toggling reminders on and off in the iCloud settings, but that didn't seem to help either.

I'm thinking this just fails with the larger lists.

So my solution was to just create some brand new lists, and move over anything uncompleted from the old lists to the new lists, and delete the old lists outright. Then rename the new lists, and re-assign the default reminder list. And I've set a recurring reminder for myself to regularly use the website to delete all completed.

Hi TyrionIsMyDude,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities for help today. It sounds like you're having trouble deleting reminders and when they are deleted, that doesn't sync to your iPhone. I know how important it is to be able to have Reminders stay organized.

Although it sounds like you are deleting them correctly at iCloud.com, you can check the instructions in these articles: iCloud: Create, edit, and delete reminders on iCloud.com and iCloud: Add and delete reminder lists on iCloud.com.

Deleting on iCloud.com should delete them on all devices. What happens when you delete from your iPhone? Have you tried toggling Reminders off and back on in Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud?

If you continue to experience issues with Reminders not syncing the deletions, contact Apple Support.

I hope that helps.

Have a fantastic weekend!
