Help. Copied text to clipboard disappears after 20 mins to an hour

2 years ago I bought an iPhone. Copy paste worked fine. The. Started acting up as text was not being retained after a certain amount of time. I could copy and paste normally then it would no longer paste the same text after a certain amount of time between 20 mins and an hour.

Took phone to apple for a replacement. Had same issue with replacement phone.

Just got a new iPhone XR from my carrier and I have the same issue. Any advice!? Either I’m crazy or I used to be able to copy something to the clipboard as long as I wanted and still paste that text says later.

Thanks!

iPhone XR, 12

Thanks seanfromllanelli

I check and that setting was turned on.

This has been happening on my last three phones. The genius’s at apple couldn’t figure it out. I have googled the issue multiple times and haven’t found anything. I even started my new Xr as a new iPhone and not a back up as I wondered if I could have a virus or malware in my previous back ups which created the problem on my last two iPhone 7’s. however my photos auto downloaded. Could it be a virus in photos or in my contacts?

The other weird thing is my contacts are sometimes combining. Ie I go to message my friend Erin and her number ends up in the contact of another friend Erin with a different description. Creates for awkward texts. This has happened with a few contacts and it was 100% for sure not due to my human error.

But the fact that text will not stay on the clipboard very long is driving me nuts. It can be as little as 5 minutes and it disappears I found today. When this happens the “paste” option is no longer present just the text zoom bubble.

Thanks in advance for any other suggestions.

On iPhone and iPad make sure Handoff is turned on by navigating to Settings → General → Handoff.

With your device settings the same as described above your Universal Clipboard will work automatically. If you copy content on any of your compatible devices you can now paste directly from a different one, just be sure to do it promptly. Apple doesn’t specify how long the copied content is available, but it says “…copied content is available to paste on your other devices only for a short time
