I updated last night only to find that Apple Health is not recording Apple Watch activity accurately. See pics below on differences in step count. The watch only seemed to record 820 steps in a 3 mile run in the health app. The activity app seems to reflect the correct amount however.

The issue turned out to be the data sources priority in HealthKit. When I changed to my new Apple Watch it automatically put the new watch at the bottom of the list. Once I moved my Apple Watch to have priority the steps matched. Problem solved.

Try a RESET....Hold the crown and side button until you see the Apple logo.....then release both.
Check your sources and what is data is being gathered by what device. Also check steps to see what data is there. Ta

Nope. Both workouts were the same length. About 30 min.

The problem does not seem to be with the watch, but rather it is Apple health. The two should have the same step count or close to it but they don’t. I reset both my watch and IPhone to no avail. This was not happening before the update. I was always getting a fairly accurate step count in Apple health.

Apple Health seems to be inaccurately recording fewer steps every few seconds where before it would record all the steps every few minutes.
The watch is giving false readings. Trip to the Apple Store to get them to examine it. Are you covered by warranty or Apple care? Ta
