Default scheme for FAT format?

Does anybody know if Master Boot Record is chosen as default scheme/partition map when formatting an USB stick to FAT(32) in MacOS?

With the new disk utility it isn't really clear.

On MacOS 10.14.2

Should be Master Boot Record. when you have Disk Utility open click on View in the menubar and select Show All devices.

Select your USB disk in the sidebar, select the Disk rather than the indented Volume, then when you select Erase you will see

Scheme, where you can select the Partition Map.
