Formating usb on macOS for PS4

How do I format a usb/external hard drive on my mac to play Mp4 on my ps4?



Others suggested this but

I DO NOT SEE THIS OPTION TO

 choose Master Boot Record instead of GUID or Apple Partition Map

You need to select the whole physical drive to erase. The physical drive is hidden on recent versions of Disk Utility. Use the information in this Apple article to reveal the physical drive within Disk Utility (you don't need to boot into Recovery Mode, just use Disk Utility normally):

When erasing the physical drive make sure to change the partition type to "MBR" or "Master Boot Record". Make sure to choose the appropriate file system which will most likely be FAT32 (or MS-DOS I forget what Apple calls it) or possibly exFAT. You will need to find this information from other PS4 users who have already successfully created a working USB drive for the PS4.
