Typing @ on a QWERTZ macbook air keyboard

I am just leaving a message to anyone out there who is frustrated because they see the @ symbol by the letter G and it is not really there. I write this with a literal headache after an hour of exhaustively searching chat forums for possible solutions. I tried everything and then saw the magic few-word response of a gentleman on a forum. option L ... I click on the right option key and L and it works for me.

I wrote this just to help anyone as upset as I was. It is actually so frustrating that the keyboard is completely misleading. I hope Apple might issue a small tutorial for those using the qwertz keyboards--it is a nice thing they can do for the price we pay.

Yes, many keyboards, not just qwertz, have extra small letters at the right edge of certain keys. This always means you use the option/alt key. Right and left option are both the same on a Mac. You must have the same thing for €, right? It is at option E.
