No longer can Install apps on iPad 2 because it cannot run iOS 10+

I have an iPad 2 that is used as a music player in my business. It crashed last week and I had to restore it as a new iPad. I didn't have a backup on a computer, so there are no apps on it. When I go to the App Store to try to install the Spotify app or a 3rd party web browser (Chrome, Firefox), the install fails because I'm not running 10.0+. I'm caught in a circle.

Is there anything I can do to resolve this? The iPad used to work beautifully as our Spotify player, but now it appears I'm forced to purchase another device (Android) just because of this.

If you need older versions of apps that have moved on to iOS 10 and later, tap on my link below and choose the method that best works with your current situation.

CAREFULLY read and follow ALL directions. Especially so for my computer/iTunes procedure.

All three of my procedures/solutions work!

Downloading Older iOS 9.3.5 Versions of A… - Apple Community

Apps may or may not have older iOS 9.3.5 versions still available from the iOS App Store.

There are three ways to try/attempt to get an older version of an app. Pick the method that works best for your situation/circumstances.

Also, I would STOP using that 2-2-1/2 year old Safari web browser, as it is, probably, not safe and secure to use any longer, and seek out a third party web browser that is STILL currently being updated and STILL being supported on iOS 9.3.5.

Heed my advice on this issue in my above link.

iOS 9 is down to only 5-6 up to date, compatible and popular, tbird party Web browsers, now.

thanks for the response.

I tried installing the down-level of iTunes, but it won't install on my MBP w/ Mojave.

I was only trying to get a downlevel browser to install so I can run the Spotify web player since their app won't run on my old iPad either. My goal is mainly to get my iPad 2 to play Spotify again. I'm not too concerned about anything beyond that for it.

Just curious. You're signed into App Store with one and the same Apple ID account as before and you go into the purchased items section of App Store and you tap on the original Spotify purchase to re-download it and it doesn't present the option to download and install the compatible legacy version? Then the developer has simply pulled the plug on such legacy version and removed it from App Store. I don't know but I believe even when legacy versions of apps are maintained, at least in some cases, they can only be re-acquired on such device and by such Apple ID account by which they had been acquired in the first place if and when they were current. At least with free apps, anyway.

Did you bother trying any of the other procedures, first?

iTunes 12.6.5 IS compatible with Mac OS X 10.11.4 and later Mac OSes.

You did something wrong and didn’ t follow my instructions to the letter and perhaps didn't move your current version of iTunes and its correspnding iTunes library.

I clearly stated that if you had another version installed, that my iTunes procedures will NOT work until you move out the newer version of iTunes and its iTunes Library folder out of the Applications folder, first and move the newer iTunes app and the iTunes Library folder elsewhere.

You did not carefully read and follow all of my procedures in my link.

All of my procedures work IF you carefully and properly followed ALL instructions given.
