multiple user accounts on a shared iMac

If you setup multiple user accounts (and login I.D.s and PW's) on same iMac, does this segregate all files and emails (to include apple i.d. accounts). In essence, looks like a stand alone computer to each user as they log in. Trying to share a new iMac with spouse (different businesses) and just don't want each other's files, emails, amazon accounts, etc to be commingled so you're having to sort through/deal with each other's files just to do your own business with your own login/apple i.d. and email.

The answer to your question is YES. Each account is separate, including your email accounts, iCloud, etc. We have 4 users on our iMac. Mainly used by my wife, and I log in occasionally (I have a MacBook Pro for everyday use). You will be able to share files via your "Public" folder, which is readable by everyone. If you both plan to install software, etc., be sure to make both your accounts "Administrator". Works like a charm. You can "switch users" and keep both accounts logged in at the same time.
