Night Shift not working on macbook pro

Hello,

I have a macbook Pro, 2018 model. It has macOS Mojave version 10.14.1.

The issue: night-shift is not working. I am able to turn it on on (see image) but the colors do not change.

I also tried turning it on by: method 1: going to system preferences, and by method 2: using the scheduled option. With all three methods, it seems that night shift is on, but the colors in the display do not get warmer.

I also looked at the settings for the night shift, and it is at the "warmest" level.

Finally, I read that night shift could have issues on iOS if some display accessibility options are on. I have grey scale, and invert colors both off. I also have the setting for contrast display to "normal".

I also was able to change the color of my screen to a "yellowish" tone by "callibrating" the color on the display with a lower "white point". So it seems that the screen is capable of showing the tones used on night shift, but the computer is not recognizing the night shift.

I ran out of ideas.

Is anyone else having this issue? Is this an issue with the OS or just my computer?

Thanks,

Katerine

Here is my experience in solving this problem:

I have a multimonitor configuration, and once the NightShift has stopped working on one of the monitors. I read many articles and posts with a similar problem, but did not find a solution.

Alternative software solutions did not suit me, so I decided to dive deeper.

And I managed to solve my problem - it was associated with a mess in color profiles.

Here is all I did to solve the problem:

  • deleted unnecessary profiles from "System Preferences->Display->Color";
  • got rid of duplicated file names in folders ~/Library/ColorSync/Profiles and /Library/ColorSync/Profiles;
  • assigned an unique description to each of my profiles in the ICC "desc" tag (using ColorSync Utility.app);

All these actions concerned only my own display profiles, I did not touch the "default" system profiles.

Also, you can try check&repair color profiles with ColorSync Utility.app "first aid" tab.

Sorry for bad English.
