Slider on my Mac's "Color Temperature" continues to adjust color even when Night Shift is turned off.

1. Schedule: set to "Off"

2. Manual: unchecked

3. Color Temperature still affects display color and my display does not default to the native color temperature but sticks to the color associated with whatever position I have left the slider at (with Night Shift set to Off).

I have tried deleting ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.pl but still same result.

I am also not running other apps that can

alter the colour temperature of the display, such as Flux or Night Owl.

same result on other user profiles.

OS issue that can be resolved by reinstalling or is it my display?

Try this:

In the Finder, press command-shift-G and paste

~/Library/Preferences/ContextStoreAgent.plist

Drag the file outside of the folder (park on the Desktop, for example), then logout and login again.

See if the settings now behave as expected. If they do you can trash the file from the Desktop.
