2018 Apple TV 4K wont connect blackmagic Design switcher.

So i recently bought an Apple TV and an iMac in hopes of using it here in my church. We're using a blackmagic design ATEM 1 M/E Production Studio 4K. At first, I tried connecting the Apple TV to an HDMi to SDi converter but it didn't work. I've also tried connecting it straight HDMI cable to the product (BMD switcher) but there's still no picture showing from the Apple TV. I'm kind of frustrated and would LOVE to find out the solution. If anyone has this problem too, please let me know if you've found a solution to this problem or not. Thanks!

Connect the Apple TV directly to a monitor via HDMI to see if that works.

I already tried that and it’ll work but i want to connect it to a switcher so that way it projects on the multiple screens that we have at the church. I emailed Blackmagic Design and found out the problem. Apple TV’s HDMI output is HDCP. Pretty much can’t do anything about it.

I think i may have worded myself in a weird way and confused you. What I meant to say was that I wanted to send the Apple TV's output signal to the Black magic design switcher (a little console) to send picture to all Tv's at once. But the Black-magic design switcher will not accept HDCP-encrypted video signals as this would aid distribution of copyrighted materials. Will those things you said at the bottom of your reply still help in this case? Thanks!

No, you worded it just fine and that is exactly how I understood it.

What you want is a splitter and not a switcher. A splitter will send one signal to multiple devices whereas a switcher is for connecting multiple devices to a signal input and switching between them.

If your display does not support HDCP then there isn't anything you can do, you would need to find that out first. However if it does then you just need to find a splitter that supports HDCP (specifically 2.2 as that is what the Apple TV 4K requires). The Apple TV also outputs natively at 4k @ 60hz so it's best that the interim device used supports that as well. While you can get away with lower it won't exhibit as great a performance.

I know there are switchers that support all of that, but I don't think there are as many splitters that do.

Yes I am aware, it was merely suggested for troubleshooting purposes to verify where the issue lies. As you found out the cause was the black magic device. If you want to use it for multiple screens you want a splitter and not a switcher

You would need to find something that supports Apple TV 4K, can output 4K @ 60hz, and HDCP 2.2
