Apple Pencil support for newer iPad 9.7

Does Apple pencil work on iPad 9.7 (not iPad Pro)? If not does the older one (pencil) support it? Where can a comparable one be purchased?

The current 6th Generation 9.7" iPad (not Pro) does in fact support the Apple Pencil 1.

See here: https://www.apple.com/ipad-9.7/specs/

Display

  • Retina display
  • 9.7-inch (diagonal) LED-backlit Multi-Touch display with IPS technology
  • 2048-by-1536-pixel resolution at 264 ppi
  • Fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating
  • Supports Apple Pencil

It is not included with the iPad however, and must be bought separately.

No, that iPad does not support either Apple Pencil (original or 2). You can get a capacitive touch stylus from Amazon or your Best Buy store, but they won't offer the same functionality as Apple Pencil.

Here's a link reviewing some that work very well with iPad: https://www.theverge.com/2015/5/7/8561465/best-ipad-stylus-pen-sensu-adonit-wacom-review
