Passcode for OTHER iPhone

My iPhone SE was submerged in water and is no longer working, so I purchased an XR. I have a notification to Update my Apple ID Settings. I am prompted to enter my Apple ID Password and my XR's password, both of which work fine. However, I am then prompted to enter the Passcode for my Other iPhone. When I do, I'm told that I entered the Incorrect Password, and get the following alert, "The passcode for "---'s iPhone" was entered incorrectly too many times. You can approve this iPhone using another device or reset your end-to-end encrypted data." My Options are to click "Use Other Device" or "Reset Encrypted Data." Reset encrypted data wants to delete everything on my iCloud. Use other device gives me a spinning icon that looks like it's waiting on something. When I look online to try and determine how to use another device, it looks like I'm supposed to Go to Settings > My name > iCloud > Keychain and this is somehow supposed to help me (side note: Keychain looks like it might be a password repository, which I don't need as I use another app for this). However, I don't have a Keychain option when I follow these directions. I'm at a loss here. I'm entering the correct passcode and the phone doesn't want to recognize it, so I'm stuck. How am I supposed to finish updating my Apple ID Settings if the phone won't recognize my passcode?

I just encountered this issue yesterday when I was testing something on my iPhone 5s. I fixed it by signing the iPhone back out of iCloud, then signing it back in again. It was my Mac's passcode that it didn't like, but when I trusted the device from my iPhone 7, it accepted it.

Not sure why it is doing it, but signing back out of iCloud and Trusting from another iPhone seemed to work. Do you have any other trusted devices that you could use to Trust the iPhone with? If you are able to get past the "other device" passcode issue, be sure to simply type the Verification Code in using the keypad that will display. You may not see any boxes for the code, but simply typing the correct numbers is how it is currently working.

Sorry, I realize I did not explain myself well. My Mac needed to have its logic board replaced. When I got the Mac back and was getting everything set back up I was asked for the password used to unlock “MacBook Pro that is not this MacBook Pro.” (This was to access my encrypted iCloud Data) It would not accept my old Mac password or the new one I set up. I contacted Apple Support for help at that point. When I was on the phone with support I was asked to try the process again and this time it asked for my iPad passcode. That fixed the issue.

My point was, contact Apple Support for help since you are not having luck “using the approval of another device”.

I'm not following your advice. Are you suggesting I call Apple Support, or read through the Apple Support page?

You were able to have "it" ask for the password...what is "it?" Apple Support? Your old phone? How did you do that? Did you talk to a person?

My new phone asked for the password of my old phone but wouldn't accept it.

I appreciate your help but it doesn't really give me any direction.
