Iphone battery discharging issue and heating in top backside heating (in part of ear contact)

Hi.

This is Sungyoung.

Now I am using I phone 7.

Today I was encountering some issue regarding residual quantity indicator of battery.

Now I am using battery case bought in Apple shop also.

  1. Suddenly the residual quantity of battery on screen: 10 %
  2. I touched my hand on the top backside (Al case of a phone, not display side) and I can feel abnormal heating.
  3. I turned off the phone.
  4. 10 minute later, I turned on it.
  5. Now the residual quantity is 100%.

I have no idea, is this problem regarding hardware problem (Battery or battery management chip) or software problem.

And I also worry about lifetime of my Iphone.

Please help this problem. what should I do fix this issue.

Currently, I have also other issues: suddenly turned off, suddenly stop app operation, video files transfer error from my Iphone to a laptop (Window 10), losing phone signal (not wifi).

Now I am living in Denmark.

Hello Sawerin,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities! I understand that the battery indicator is not correct on your iPhone 7, and you also have temperature concerns with your device. You've come to the right place for a resolution.

I would like to start by having you check the Battery Health of your iPhone following the steps under the "Battery Health" section here:

iPhone Battery and Performance - Apple Support

If you see a notice indicating your battery may need to be serviced, the following resource provides steps to take next:

If you see "Your iPhone battery may need to be serviced" - Apple Support

It is normal for the device to get warm in certain situations, including while it is charging. You can view more information about acceptable operating temperatures for your iPhone here:

Keeping iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch within acceptable operating temperatures - Apple Support

If the Battery Health appears to be in good condition, I suggest removing the battery case, then test if the issue happens again. This will help us further isolate if the issue may be with the iPhone or the case.

Take care!
