Does the Apple Watch change setting on its own on messages
My phone was set to send and not delivered when I opened a message it changed my setting to delivered now why is that

I think you’re saying you noticed a message showing as Sent, and when you opened it the status changed to Delivered. That is probably coincidence that the message had recently been delivered but your display had not yet updated until you opened it, which probably forced an immediate refresh from the server rather than waiting for a scheduled periodic update.
