Messaging issues on Apple Watch Series 4

Hello,

I'm wondering if anyone is able to help...

My iPhone X and Apple Watch Series 4 don't seem to sync up with each other, if I delete a message on my iPhone it isn't deleting it on my Watch, similarly if I reply/open or delete a message on my Watch it does not mark it as read/delete it on my iPhone.

I've tried all of the usual resetting it, unpairing and repairing, switching off iMessage etc. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this issue or if they've been able to fix it?

Any advice is appreciated!

Nothing is wrong with your devices. Messages are deleted from the Watch automatically as new messages are added.

But surely when I delete them from my iPhone the Watch should recognise that I've deleted them and they should disappear? It's supposed to mirror my iPhone, is it not?
