Why is there no longer a rewind control on the iPhone that allows me to go back to previously played songs? That control existed until a version ago or so, and now all that's there is a back 30 seconds button, which only takes you back to the start

I have an iPad that syncs with my iTunes library and it had the same controls as you described. My iPhone does not sync with iTunes and had the fast forward and reverse controls. I played around with my iTunes library and I think I figured out what is going on. I think I changed this setting when audiobooks were in the music app. How to fix:

1. Open iTunes on your computer
2. Click Albums
3. Press Command A (Mac) to select all albums
4. Right click and click "Get Info"
5. Click Edit items
6. Click Options
7. Uncheck "remember playback position"
8. Re-sync your device
9. Check your playback controls now.

I still have the buttons you described. The buttons are also listed in the user guide. Have you done any troubleshooting yet? If so, what have you done?

Can you check one more setting? iTunes > Preferences (Command and comma keys) > Store > Make sure sync playback information across devices is off. I am almost positive this is coming from an iTunes setting - we just need to figure out what.

Looks like podcast controls. Some how mixed up with your music. How did you put your music on your phone?
