how do i get rid of the red app notification on the app icon

on the app icon on my iphone 8 i have a red badge telling me i have 8 notifications.When i open the app icon and scroll through everything nothing changes.When i click on updates again nothing changes. Can someone please tell me how to get rid on the notifications icons without having to turn them off in settings

So when you update your apps it stays there? It should clear after they update. Reboot your iPhone

What application are you seeing this on? Each application manages badges differently, so there is no way to give a general answer that would apply to the 1.5 million apps that are available to have on your phone.
