Just got this phone for Christmas 2018. I had it in a good (thick) Speck Case from the moment I took it out of the box. It hasn’t been dropped from any serious heights or any serious material (i.e concrete), just maybe from the bed to the floor onto carpet about 2 feet if anything. This looks like chipping of like a coating or even the aluminum? I don’t even know how to make it out... has anyone else experienced this?

You're well past the 2-week return for refund period and, since it's a cosmetic issue, it's not covered by warranty. Put it back in the case and forget about it.

Thanks for your input. I found a thread on Mac Forum similar to my issue and it’s not uncommon apparently. I also called Apple shortly after posting this and I was told I’m still covered by the warranty... They made me an appointment w/ the Genius Bar or I had the option of sending in my phone and them mailing me a new one. Looks like I’ll be okay. It’s not the end of the world regardless, would’ve forgotten about it and just slapped the case right back on but I didn’t pay over $1,000 for an already damaged item you know. Thanks again!
