How do I reset the iphone news app to its default feed?

How do I reset the iphone news app to its default feed? I prefer to have a default feed rather than be stuck in a filter bubble. As I understand it, that means I will need to reset it regularly. I initially tired "ignore" when it asked me to prefer topics or sources. This has apparently set them all to never be seen again instead of ignoring the request to set preferences I do not want to set. I have cleared history since but it has not corrected the behavior. I have saved news articles I don't particularly want to lose since the point of saving them is to HAVE them. Not sure if the AI is still skewing my preferences based on them even after clearing suggestions in history, but it is definitely still "ignoring" things -- so the setting-clearing available to the user is not useful. Do I need to reinstall the app? Will I lose my saved news articles if I do? Why is it the fashion these days to try to write software to outwit the user and then refuse to provide a manual? I thought we learned our lesson about that with Windows a couple of decades ago?

I already have "restrict stories in today" turned off. I have already reset the identified. I have already cleared history and cleared suggestions in history. None of that has reverted it to the state it was in when I got the phone. How do I revert to that state? Will reinstalling the app do that or will apple "helpfully" continue the same behavior (which I do not want) after the reinstall?
