can set up gmail on all devices but imac

I have ipad, iphone and a laptop. Gmail is set up and working on all but not showing up on my iMac. I tried to set manually and it's not working It freezes once I get to adding what apps for it to work with (see photo) . My iMac (Sierra 10.12.6) is fully updated refuses to let me add it. This is driving me nuts. I tried check in all the boxes I also tried just checking mail. Nothing works -Thank you for any help!!!

found out how to fix. Something was going on with imessage. Once I signed out of it - rebooted and then signed in again I was able to set up gmail on here. Go figure! Hope this can help someone else in future
