iPad Mini 4 - You Tube

Cannot YouTube in full screen. apparently no one else can either judging from the comments I’ve found on the internet.

When I presented this wuestion to Apple support on the phone, I was told “that should be fixed with update.” Got the update same problem. Then I was told to download the actual application. Did that too. All of this lead me to dig deeper into help on YouTube. Answer - “Your browser does not support full screen.” No way. I want to watch YouTube in full screen. Does anyone know how to do that on iPad mini 4.

I have no problem viewing YouTube full screen using the app. This is a screenshot that I took that shows the tools in the upper right so you know that it is a full screen YouTube screenshot.

This is a full screen screenshot from YouTube.com.

However, there are imbedded YouTube videos in news sites and other websites that will return that message about full screen not being available in the browser.

It all depends on the format of the YouTube video.

The full screen icon in the YouTube app is just that.

A video may fill the entire screen across the width of the iPad but still may not fill the entire height of the iPad.

This is a function of how the video was created and uploaded to YouTube.

There is nothing you can do to change this.

The YouTube app streams at full iPad screen just fine.

Use the YouTube app.

Thank you. I am using the YouTube app. On my iPad Mini 4 my only viewing option is for HD. Is there some place I can change viewing options? I do ot think I am explaining this.

Thank you. But this is what I would call HD view. What I mean by fullscreen is video uses all space as if in theatre view. Does this make sense. My old iPad used all that space.
