Apple Tv home sharing videos

I am trying to share my home videos on Apple TV, which are on a hard drive connected to my computer. I see the video tiles in "Photos", there are alot of them, but when I click on, i get an error message that says

"This content cannot be played because its format is not compatible with Apple TV". I am using the latest Apple TV, just bought it, the 4K one, with 64GB. I purchased it because, previously, i was using an older version, and in that case, the apple tv actually played the video, but there was audio-only, and no video. The message boards told me to upgrade my App

You can use the video inspector within QuickTime to see the details of the current formatting

You could use QuickTime to reformat or other software, like handbrake.

You would need to make sure the videos are in a format that the Apple TV can play

The parameters you would need to follow are listed below.

H.264/HEVC SDR video up to 2160p, 60 fps, Main/Main 10 profile

HEVC Dolby Vision (Profile 5)/HDR10 (Main 10 profile) up to 2160p

H.264 Baseline Profile level 3.0 or lower with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats

MPEG-4 video up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 fps, Simple profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats

Ok. But they still need to meet certain conditions in order to be compatible with Apple TV, see perimeters above.

How do I do that? If the videos are currently in QuickTime and I have 120 hours of HD video, how do I reformat them to meet the parameters you describe?

If you put your home videos in iCloud Photos, then it is not Home Sharing by its tech name. Viewing videos from iCloud Photos would be possible using the Photos app on Apple TV.

For Home Sharing, you would add your home videos to the iTunes library, and view them using the Computers app on Apple TV.

Your files would need to be compatible with both iTunes and Apple TV.

Can you detail the format of your home videos? Which software was used to make them?
