Hello bughu,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities. I understand you're running into issues capturing an iOS screen recording using QuickTime.

Which Mac and iPhone models do you have, and also which macOS and iOS versions are you running? You can check your macOS version by clicking Apple menu () > About This Mac, and your iOS version by tapping Settings > General > About.

If you try a different cable and/or USB port to connect your iPhone, does that help?

How about if you restart both devices and try again? You can restart the Mac by clicking Apple menu () > Restart, and your iPhone by using these steps: Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

If the issue persists, try opening iTunes on your Mac. Does your iPhone show up as expected here? Are you able to allow access to your iPhone and sync it here? Knowing this would help narrow things down a bit.

I hope this helps get you started.

Take care.

Thanks for the reply. I was on with product specialists and upper tier tech guys basically getting what we had to deal with to engineers since nobody truly knew what was causing this. What temporarily solved this for me was resetting my iPhone settings by going to Settings > General > Reset All Settings. Something on the iPhone's end essentially is messing up the screen mirroring feature that you see in the Control Center area when you swipe down on the iPhone. So I can completely see how restoring your iPhone would have course done the same. So I guess for those out there try my method first since not as extreme and take it from there. Very frustrating and will have to look into Reflector 3...I am currently using ScreenFlow for my 3rd party capturing software. Aloha

Hi bughu,

We appreciate the follow-up information and screenshot!

To narrow this down, try creating a temporary administrator account. Then, log in there to see if you can replicate the issue. This will tell you if it's system-wide, or if it might be specific to the user account. For testing purposes, you only need to try this on one of the two Mac. Here are the steps you'll need: How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac.

Once you test, check out the additional steps in the link. Depending on the results, there are a few additional steps you can try.

Cheers.

Hello CarlosP1228

I did all the steps you mentioned ( creating a temporary administrator account ) etc.

but it didn't solve the problem !

after getting very disappointed I decided to reset my iPhone and delete everything and set it as new iPhone after all is done I connected my iPhone to my iMac and WOW its works again !!!! then I connected to my Mac mini and again WOW works perfectly . the problem clearly was my iPhone not my iMac or Mac mini or even Mojave !

I hop this discussion will help others if they face the same problem.

once again thank you very much for your help I really appreciated .

Cheers.

Hi Anthony

I did everything about this problem nothing worked for me , I really gave up and decided to buy a third party software and I did. buy a software called Reflector 3 I used it to mirror my iPhone and it works good !! but I still wondering what is wrong with my iMac and Mac mini then I thought maybe the problem is with my iPhone !!!!

restoring my iPhone was the last idea that's came to my mind ,

I restored my iPhone and then everything worked perfectly . ( I really don't know what is exactly was preventing the iPhone to be mirrored ) but finally its works 😁

if you have the same problem just give it a try I think it will work for you too.
