Apps Prevent Automatic Updates

I have automatic updates turned on, but for some reason no updates are applied if an app is running. Expected behavior is that, if my computer is closed, then any app that is open and has an update (Fantastical, Moom, Spark, etc), should be quit to allow the update to take place.

Instead, the following message appears:

"“Moom” cannot be open during installation."

You can trade out Moom for Fantastical, Spark, and several others. This is currently preventing all app and OS updates, as these apps have to be manually quit before a restart can take place.

I have not seen other reports. This is a bug or defect - is there a way of fixing it? I do not consider feedback to be an appropriate place to report bugs, that is why I am posting to a support forum.

Yes it is a defect in third party software in question ( Moom, Fantastical, Spark,) not well integrated into the macOS environment. The fix is lodge your complaints with the third party Software in question and see if they are working on a better user interface and a better user experience.
