Apple pencil not working.

This issue started today. When I use my apple pencil (1st gen) on my iPad pro (1st gen) to write in notability, say I write a sentence, after about 2 or 3 words it started to lag, then 2 or 3 letters after that, the screen goes black for 5 seconds, and the cycle repeats. This happens in other apps that use the pencil as well. This is probably the most frustrating problem I've ever had with technology as I am paperless and all of my schoolwork is on my iPad. With 4 tests next week and countless assignments and quizzes due, this is downright maddening. Any help at all would be amazing.

Have you tried disconnecting the Pensil and repairing it to the iPad?

You can try to do this two ways. First in notability when deleting a color you can select disconnect Apple Pensil and then reconnect again. If that does not solve the issue you can try going into Bluetooth settings and unpairing the Apple Pensil and then replugging it in to pair again.

Have you tried a hard reset of your iPad by holding down both the Home and sleep/wake buttons simultaneously until your iPad goes to black and restarts with Apple logo, then release the buttons?

How do you use your iPad Pro?

How much internal free data storage space is left on the iPad?

Do you leave lots of apps in the iOS background app switcher?

Do you have a lot of active Website tabs open in a Web browser?

In Settings app, under General, have you toggled OFF Background App Refresh?

Do you use a screen protector?
