deleting apple id

So many years ago I had an apple ID which is my primary email but had issues with it so made a new one... which meant I had to create a secondary email which was a pain.

I've just come across the new way to delete old apple ID's so I thought I'd delete my old one which was linked to my primary email and then change my new apple ID which is linked to my secondary email back to my original apple ID.

I'm trying to make this make sense but its hard!

When I go in to change my apple ID back to my primary email it says this email is already taken... But if I go to sign into Itunes with my primary email it says no such email exists....

So really my question is... When an apple ID is deleted... How long until that email address can be used for an apple ID account again? Because I would like to delete my secondary email address and go back to having ONE apple ID and ONE email address!

Both apple ID's are @gmail.com by the way.

I hope someone makes sense of this!

If your e-mail address was associated with an ID in any way, for example as a Reachable at or Rescue e-mail address, then it can't be reused with another Apple ID for approximately one year. I have also seen posts that stated Apple told them there was a 30 day waiting period before the address could be used again. You will need to get another e-mail address to use as your Apple ID or you can try waiting 30 days to see if that works.
