I’ve been having this same issue. When I go into terminal and do AssetCacheManagerUtil the registration error for me is “Internal_Server_Error” with a registration response code of 500.
I was about to start another thread when I found this and I am having an identical issue.
I am using a MacMini as a Home Server and using it as my network Content Caching
server, I am getting tis error message in the log:
2019-02-06 14:14:38.302716-0500 0x5dd22b Error 0x0 83949 AssetCache: [com.apple.AssetCache:builtin] Request for registration from https://lcdn-registration.apple.com/lcdn/register failedhttps://lcdn-registration.apple.com/lcdn/register
What is also an issue that seems connected to it, if I have Content Caching enabled,
and it stays in this "unauthorized" state, downloading content in iTunes on this
machine ends up giving a download error and stops the download. If I disable
Content Caching, then all downloads on this machine work just fine.
Content Caching has been problematic for me ever since (during) the transition
from Server to macOS.
Update:
It seems that Content Caching "magically" started to work(?) again
sometime overnight. At least It seems I can download and iOS app
and it actually caches the download.
Will probably check to see if it works for Mac App Store downloads,
which has always been a hit and miss thing anyway, usually failing to
cache the largest of downloads, of course.
Caching is working for iOS devices but not for my Macs. Then again,
Content Caching for my Macs has always been a toss up as to whether
it would work or not. Moon probably isn't in the right phase today.
Same here. Content Caching: On
Would be nice to know what caused the issue so I will leave this thread "Unsolved" for now.
Thank you to the responders.
