Warning: Phone Call Spoofing "Apple Customer Care"

I just received a phone call with caller id for Apple Customer Care, 800-275-2273, automatically identified since the number is programmed into my iPhone. It was a robocall supposedly alerting me to a security breach of my apple id. The voice warned me to not use any Apple device and to press "1" for assistance. Instead, I hung up and called the actual Customer Care to report the call. The representative with whom I spoke confirmed that these phone calls occur and that some customers have sadly supplied information. I don't know what information is requested and the representative didn't tell me, but I bet it's either a password or credit card number.

The call was obviously (to me, anyway) a sophisticated attempt to gather information, as Apple does not make unsolicited phone calls to customers.

For anyone unfamiliar with Apple protocols regarding communication with customers:

Do not respond to such a call or supply any information!
