Windows 10 will not recognize my Iphone SE

Hi, When I connect my iPhone SE to Windows 10, I immediately get a message from Windows 10 that the USB device is not recognized. The Phone is unlocked when I connect it. If I connect my IPAD using the same cable it works fine. I do not have iTunes on my PC. Trying a second PC produced the same error message for the iPhone. I have also tried another cable. while the IPAD was connected to my PC I was able to go into device manager and update the Apples' USB driver but that did not help with the iPhone.

You must have iTunes installed for Windows to recognize an iPhone. The iTunes installer also installs the correct drivers.

You explicitly stated that you do not have iTunes installed on your PC. Install the current version from https://www.apple.com/itunes/download/.

Once you have it installed, try again.

So I tried another iPhone (7) and it like my IPad connected fine to my computer. (Note, iTunes is not longer present) So it does not appear to be a driver issues unless a different driver is used for the SE. Any chance there is a setting on the SE that is preventing the connection? Thanks

I installed the latest version of iTunes from Apple's web site. That did not work. Interestingly, the IPAD connects fine even without iTunes. Is there any clue there? Thanks

You are correct, in my original post I stated I did not have iTunes installed. Last night I installed iTunes to see if it would help, long install, it did not. I still received the error from windows 10 as soon as I connect my iPhone. I then removed iTunes from my machine along with the additional Apple software that was installed. My Ipad still connects but my iPhone does not.

I am going to try with a few other machines I have to see if I can get the phone to connect. Hunting around the Internet has found folks with the same problem but none of the solutions seem to help.
