brctl [root] process & bird process [user] using a lot of CPU%

Hi everyone,

Thanks for reading my post, help is much appreciated. So let's dive in:)

My macbook pro 13' 2015 is getting very very slow. In my activity monitor there are two processes that are constantly taking up up to %100 CPU and overheating everything.

  • brctl is a root process. I can find that this is some kind of bridging process but I'm not sure if and how I could reduce this. What is it bridging to? Could have something to do with the bird process that is failing Icloud Drive uploading? Anyway, it is constantly running full speed.

  • Bird process is also terrible. It apparently is constantly trying to upload some files to iCloud drive but it is failing. When I type in: brctl log --wait --shorten in terminal, it shows hundreds of processes failing every single mili-second. However all files are called <private> so I can’t see what files are causing iCloud Drive to sync (anyone know how I could fix that <private> part? I am a photographer and use almost 1TB on iCloud Drive. Getting every thing off my iCloud Drive to, restart it through system preferences, and put everything back in iCloud Drive… is not as easy as it might sound definitively not with this laptop.

Please let me know if someone know anything about this and what I can do, would be great.

Thank you,

Friso
