what is vboxheadless & can I stop it or delete it ?

I have just upgraded to Mojave 10.14.3 on my MBP 13 inch mid 2012 with 8 GB ram and found it te be running slow. For the first time opening anything takes longer & the 'Beach ball' appears stationery for some time before spinning & loading whatever I've opened.

I notice that Vbpxheadless appears in the activity monitor & consumes quiet a bit of CPU pwer - what is the purpose of this item & can I stop it or delete it ?

Is it vboxheadless or vpbxheadless. The first is a process for VirtualBox which isn't part of macOS.

I don't know what the second is and it isn't running on my Mac running Mojave.
